Anyone know anything about starting a business?

Looking to start a business in my city with my friend. After doing research there’s only one other types of these businesses within about 70 miles so I think it would be profitable. The concepts we discussed are different than the other companies as well. We’ve figured out location interest, pricing, hours, etc. To start, we can do our own building/fixing and marketing with the help of family. Done some research on where to purchase items for the business.


The biggest thing is how to get started. I was told I couldn’t get a loan to get started. Someone told me no bank would give me money to start a business, only fund an existing business. In that case I would need to find an investor which I have no idea how to do.

Anyone with experience I’d appreciate any guidance!

You may want to state your location. Starting a business in Ireland is very different to starting a business in Saudi Arabia.

I started small by getting my LLC and EIN, then opened a business bank account to keep everything separate. One thing I did that helped a lot was using an advertising truck to get attention locally—super effective where I live. I also tracked all expenses from day one, even the tiny ones, so tax time wouldn’t be a nightmare.
